✨ What's Getting in Your Way?

August at Ashley Coffey Coaching was about examining how we use our internal resources. Our creativity, time, energy, and even our thoughts all influence how we show up in our lives. This month, we challenged the belief that growth always requires doing more and instead explored what becomes possible when we understand ourselves well enough to work with our capacity instead of constantly pushing against it. From creative blocks to cognitive distortions, August reminded us that sometimes the thing standing between us and our next level isn't a lack of discipline. It's a pattern asking for our awareness.

🔹 Creative Blocks

Creative blocks aren't always a lack of creativity. Sometimes they're a sign that our internal world is overloaded.

We explored how perfectionism, fear of failure, comparison, overthinking, and pressure can interfere with our ability to create freely. When we're focused on producing something "good enough," we can become disconnected from the curiosity and experimentation that creativity requires.

Instead of asking, "Why can't I do this?" we practiced asking, "What is making it difficult for me to access creativity right now?"

Sometimes creativity doesn't need more discipline. It needs more space.

🔹 Reframing Productivity

We challenged one of the most deeply ingrained messages many of us carry: my productivity determines my worth.

Productivity can be valuable, but constantly measuring ourselves by what we accomplish creates a relationship with success that is impossible to sustain. Rest, reflection, connection, play, recovery, and simply being are not interruptions to a productive life. They are part of a healthy one.

We reframed productivity from "How much did I accomplish?" to "Did the way I used my time and energy support what actually matters to me?"

Sometimes the most productive choice is doing less, because doing less allows us to do what matters better.

🔹 Energetic Budgeting

We only have so much energy available to us, yet many of us manage our energy as though it is an unlimited resource.

Energetic budgeting taught us to become intentional about where our energy goes. We identified our energy deposits, the people, practices, environments, and experiences that restore us, alongside our energy leaks, the obligations, relationships, thought patterns, and behaviors that repeatedly drain us.

Boundaries became an important part of this conversation. Every unnecessary yes, unresolved conflict, repeated explanation, or responsibility we take on that doesn't belong to us has an energetic cost.

The goal isn't to protect ourselves from everything difficult. It's to make sure we're spending our energy in ways that align with our values, priorities, and capacity.

🔹 Cognitive Distortions

Finally, we explored the stories our minds create and how easily those stories can become mistaken for facts.

All-or-nothing thinking, catastrophizing, mind reading, personalization, emotional reasoning, and other cognitive distortions can shape how we interpret ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

The goal isn't to have distorted thoughts. We all do. Self-leadership is developing enough awareness to recognize a thought before automatically believing it.

We practiced slowing down and asking:

What do I actually know? What am I assuming? Is there another explanation that could also be true?

That small space between thought and belief can create enormous emotional freedom.

🌱 The ACC Takeaway

August was ultimately about capacity and alignment.

Creative blocks ask us to examine what is restricting us.

Reframing productivity asks us to separate our worth from our output.

Energetic budgeting asks us to become responsible for where our energy goes.

Cognitive distortions ask us to question the stories consuming that energy in the first place.

Together, they remind us that self-leadership isn't always about pushing harder.

Sometimes it's about clearing the noise, protecting your resources, questioning the story, and creating enough internal space to hear yourself again.

You don't always need more motivation. Sometimes you need more alignment. 🌿

And when your energy, thoughts, choices, and values begin moving in the same direction, growth becomes much more sustainable.

ACC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Exciting News! ✨

I am incredibly excited to announce the ACC Certified Coach Program, a year-long immersive training and mentorship experience designed to teach future coaches the methodology, language, listening skills, and self-leadership principles behind Ashley Coffey Coaching.

Throughout the year, you'll learn how to listen beyond someone's words, ask powerful questions, recognize patterns without projecting your own experiences onto someone else, hold space without rescuing, challenge with compassion, navigate boundaries, and help people develop greater ownership and self-awareness. You'll study the ACC curriculum and learn how I teach topics around emotional intelligence, codependency, boundaries, nervous system awareness, identity, leadership, cognitive patterns, relationships, self-worth, and personal growth.

But education is only part of it.

✨ You'll shadow me and observe real coaching in practice.

✨ We'll meet for a one-hour training and development call every week that focuses on the ACC topics as you hone in your active listening skills and coaching cues.

✨ You'll have biweekly 1:1 mentorship with me to strengthen your individual coaching skills.

✨ You'll practice coaching, receive feedback, and develop your own authentic coaching voice while learning the language and framework of ACC.

✨ We'll work on ethics, confidentiality, scope of practice, boundaries, and knowing when something belongs with a coach versus a licensed mental health professional.

✨ You'll learn how to create psychologically safer coaching spaces without taking responsibility for another person's healing.

✨ And throughout the year, you'll move from learning → observing → practicing → receiving feedback → coaching with greater independence.

This program isn't about creating another version of me.

It's about teaching you the foundation I've spent years developing so you can become a grounded, ethical, emotionally intelligent coach in your own right.

By the end of 2027, successful participants will have the opportunity to earn their designation as an ACC Certified Coach and be hired on as an ACC coach. 🌿

I believe deeply in the power of coaching, but I also believe the people doing this work have a responsibility to be well-trained, self-aware, ethical, and willing to continually examine themselves.

You cannot take someone deeper than you're willing to go yourself.

So this year will challenge you personally just as much as it develops you professionally.

This is the beginning of something I have dreamed about for a long time. ACC has never been about keeping what I've learned to myself. It's about creating ripple effects. And now, I get to teach other people how to create those ripples too. 🤍

✨ The first ACC Certified Coach cohort begins in Nov 2026.

Please reach out for more information or to receive the applications and program requirements!
